15. How does a secure transaction process?
Under a shopping cart example, the customer enters their purchase information on the merchant's web site to start the purchase process. The merchant receives this request and returns a summary to the customer. This includes item, price, credit card number, and order number. The customer verifies the information. If it is correct they click the 'purchase' button to send the information back to the merchant. The merchant removes the order information from it and forwards the digitally signed and encrypted payment information to EBS. EBS will do some reformatting and forward it to Axis Bank.  The AXIS Bank sends the authorization request to the issuing Bank. The approval or denial code is sent back to EBS. EBS sends the code (approval or denial) to the merchant, who passes it to the customer. The entire process generally takes less than ten seconds.

A refund that is forced by a credit cardholder's credit card company is known as charge back. This occurs when a cardholder decides to formally dispute a charge on his/her credit card bill, usually because someone else fraudulently used that card number. Charge backs are handled within the standard VISA/MC guidelines. However, we do take the extra step to pro-actively assist you with your charge back rebuttals to help you respond promptly to any charge backs. Most importantly, we monitor all accounts pro-actively and watch all risk issues carefully. In the event that there is an issue or concern, we work closely with you and your business to resolve it quickly. Our efforts in this area result in a common-sense approach to risk management that is often very different from our competitors. A CHARGEBACK CAN ONLY BE REVERSED IF THE CREDIT CARD HOLDER FORMALLY INFORMS HIS/HER BANK OR CREDIT CARD ISSUING INSTITUTION THAT HE/SHE WILL ACCEPT THE DISPUTED CHARGE.
